Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going to? What do we expect? What’s awaiting us? Many just feel confused. The ground shifts, they don’t know why and what the cause is. Their condition is one of anxiety or, as it becomes more defined, fear. Once upon a time a man set out to learn fear. That was easier to achieve in the recent past and, to be more precise, it was an art which was terrifyingly mastered. But incumbent upon us now, discounting the causes of fear, is a more relevant feeling. It depends upon learning hope and its work is not a renunciation: it is in love with success rather than failure.Ernst Bloch

One might think that these thoughts about the “principle of hope” were written just recently - as a reaction to the situation (political, economic, ecological ...), in which we find ourselves in this present world of ours, a world shaped by ourselves. Starting from the convulsions of the most recent past and uncertainties about the future and the end, the 24th Tyrol Easter Festival is dedicated to one of the declared human rights: freedom. Music, dance, film, conversations and performance are art forms in which the topic will be addressed critically and ironically, perhaps even wittily and subtly. In addition to Arvo PÄRT’s Credo, Jordi Savall’s musical staging of Power and Belief, Bach’s St John Passion and works by the great Swiss composer Klaus HUBER, our wish for freedom, order and harmony will also be explored in the traditional classical music of Iran, Afghanistan and Korea. With the occasionally quite dreadful compulsion for happiness (smiley!) and the pseudo-freedom of our Wellness society, there will be dance and performance.

"Chi siamo? Da dove veniamo? Verso dove andiamo? Cosa ci attendiamo? Cosa ci aspetta? Molti si sentono semplicemente disorientati - il terreno sotto i piedi vacilla – non si sa perché e per che motivo. Questo è lo stato d’animo della paura – se esso poi si fa più percepibile, allora siamo nello stato d’animo del terrore.
Un tempo riuscire a vincere il terrore era una sfida che si imparava. Ma ciò era possibile in tempi passati, che erano più semplici e più leggeri - un tempo quest’arte veniva perfettamente padroneggiata. Ma al giorno d’oggi, con un futuro che non è prevedibile, esso ci dà una sensazione dai contorni meno precisi.
È tutta questione di imparare a sperare. La speranza non fallisce, essa sta nel realizzare le cose e non nel fallimento della realizzazione delle cose." Ernst Bloch

Si potrebbe pensare che queste riflessioni sul “principio della speranza” siano state scritte in tempi recenti – come reazione all’attuale situazione (politica, economica, ambientale, …) nella quale ci troviamo attualmente nel mondo, un mondo che noi abbiamo fatto diventare così. Partendo dagli eventi travolgenti del nostro passato più recente e dall’incertezza del futuro e della fine, la 24° edizione dell’Osterfestival Tirol è dedicato ad uno dei diritti fondamentali dichiarati dell’uomo: quello della libertà. Musica, danza, film, colloqui e performance sono forme artistiche nelle quali questo argomento viene trattato in maniera critica ed ironica, forse anche con un pizzico di burla e di raffinata sensibilità. Accanto ad Arvo PÄRTs Credo, alla scenografia musicale di Jordi Savall attorno al tema del potere e della fede - alla Passione secondo Giovanni di BACH e ad opere del grande compositore svizzero Klaus HUBER la rassegna si sviluppa attorno al desiderio di libertà, ordine ed armonia - anche nella tradizionale musica classica dell’Iran, dell’Afghanistan e della Corea. Con il pensiero che va, ribellandosi, alla pressione – che a volte si fa veramente insopportabile – della felicità e del sorridere per forza (smilies …) ed alla pseudo-libertà della nostra società wellness, la danza e le performance dal Giappone, dalla Germania , dalla Svizzera, dall’Austria e dal Belgio manifestano dirompenti la loro carica espressiva.
