For years our programme has included world premieres and first performances by one of the most remarkable New Music ensembles – the Austrian Ensemble Phace. For the 32nd edition of the Festival, we are delighted to present a work jointly commissioned from Johannes Maria Staud. Tōru Takemitsu’s composition Between Tides is an interplay of awakening and passing. In her Lichtbogen, Kaija Saariaho is captivated by the fascination of light in motion; the music has a dreamworld quality. With little gestures, Troiani’s work sketches figures in the air. An evening of sound experiences.
