Can you still hear the bombs? I can hear them.
Growing up in a war zone means living and breathing politics.
(Samaa Wakim)

In her new solo performance Losing it, Palestinian choreographer and performer Samaa Wakim explores how her experiences have impacted her identity. She explores how the trauma of previous generations is manifested through movement and sound in her own body.
On a journey back to when she began to fear for her freedom, the piece delves into her memories of growing up under the occupation, exploring the different realities she lived in and the fantasies she developed out of fear and hope in an attempt to survive. When fear overwhelms her, her world begins to disintegrate: The earth shakes and the sounds become distorted, creating another world in which reality and fantasy merge.
In interaction with the music played live by Samar Haddad King and Wakim’s vocal accompaniment, the sounds that once caused fear and the sounds that once gave comfort are interwoven in such a way that the past and the present cloud the future.
