echoes from afar HAAS, STREICH, TENNEY
Names Ensemble
The young Salzburg ensemble is dedicating this evening to the exploration of the space with works by Georg Friedrich Haas, James Tenney and Lisa Streich. The compositions explore the acoustic space on totally different paths of creation, development and decay. In his …Einklang freier Wesen… Haas repeatedly interweaves solo pieces to form a whole. In Pietà a motorised cello has the strongly visual backing of the ensemble. Streich drew his inspiration from William Adolphe Bouguereau’s painting of the same name. In a Large, Open Space by the US-American James Tenney leads into musical dissolution. The opportunity given the audience to “walk the piece” opens up a variety of perspectives.
