Brabant 1653   HOLLANDERS,
ROSIER u.a.
              Holland Baroque
The ensemble led by twin sisters Judith and Tineke Steenbrink takes us back to the 17th century. It is a period of violent conflict between Catholics and Protestants in the south and east of the Netherlands. Public Catholic worship was banned there from 1648 but enclaves survived around Gemert and Boxmeer. Carl Rosier, Benedictus à Sancto Josepho and Herman Hollanders wrote their most beautiful works for this hidden life. Holland Baroque and the solo ensemble perform Passion music from monasteries in Brabant.
