Orlando di Lasso’s Prophetiae Sibyllarum, pre-Christian prophecies about the arrival of the Prince of Peace, are the focus of the programme and open the festival. The work is striking for di Lasso’s unconventional use of harmony and highly chromatic idiom. This unique composition will be juxtaposed with contemporary echoes by such composers as Samir Odeh-Tamimi and Younghi Pagh-Paan.
