… unto my soul The Present
LAMB, ZECHBERGER, KERSCHBAUMER
Together with the vocal ensemble The Present – who position themselves at the interface between early and contemporary music – the 2026 Tyrol Easter Festival has commissioned three compositions. With Passion music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods as the point of departure – including works by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Gregorio Allegri, Samuel Scheidt and Giovanni Legrenzi – Catherine Lamb, Günther Zechberger and Hannes Kerschbaumer focus on the themes of loss, grief and hope. Several sound worlds are combined in a dialogue between text – including fragments from Aslı Erdoğan’s At the Foot of a Wall (Zechberger) –, sound and space. The cast: eight voices, viola da gamba, violoncello and positive organ.
