At last I have the pleasure of offering you Responsoria by the blessed Mr Zelenka […] that you might be granted the delight of tasting the sweet fruits of this almond tree. (J.G. Pisendel 1749 to G.P. Telemann, 1749)

The Bohemian composer Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679-1745) served at the court in Dresden. The exciting aspect of this concert is the juxtaposition of the Responsoria – composed in the old style – with the more modern Lamentations. This will be the first appearance at the Festival of the Prague Baroque ensemble Collegium 1704 under its conductor Václav Luks. They have built up an international reputation with their interpretations of Zelenka’s works.
