One of today’s most versatile percussionists, Vanessa Porter, performs current works in combination with improvisation, electronics and the performing arts, and creates unique soundscapes in the process, as she will in this concert. The four compositions explore the space of the Salzlager in very different ways. The focus is on Rebecca SAUNDERS’ Dust – a work that plays with the weight of both the sound and the performer and tries to make this palpable. Enchanted Invocation by Augusta READ THOMAS is like a meditation for vibraphone and five crotales, in which the liquid harmonies of the instrument are blurred and slowly dissolve. Younghi PAGH-PAAN offers a quite different experience. In TA-RYONG IV she draws on archaic rhythmic elements of Korean folk music. One of her pupils is Ellnaz SEYEDI. Her Glasfluss is a play with opposites, the transformation and dissolution of dominant sounds. A concert that opens up spaces.
