Rhythmus & Rausch (Rhythm & Intoxication), a performance by the Austrian choreographer Helene Weinzierl, explores closeness and distance. The divide between the performers and the audience is fluid. How can there be personal rapprochement in such anonymity? A fascinating jigsaw landscape develops and is transformed from structured chaos into an energetic maelstrom of great physical intensity. The Salzlager becomes an essential part of the performance and a performer in its own right.
In 1995 Helene Weinzierl founded CieLaroque, one of the most popular touring ensembles in the Austrian dance scene. In her interdisciplinary choreographic works she addresses socio-political issues. They have won numerous international awards.
